Welcome to my weekly trading review series. In this series I will talk about how I traded in the week that just went by. I will go through some of my winning trades and some of my losing trades and try to summarise the things that went well and not so well with my trading week. Also I will include some general market commentary and some thoughts for the upcoming week.

Summary

This week saw a lot of the equity markets around the world bounce back after a battering in the last few weeks. The Indian indices finished with week positively and there were finally signs of stocks breaking out and following through. This meant that it was time to get back into the markets after a few weeks on the sideline for a swing trader like myself. I started the week with a few pilot positions and tried to scale up my position size as the pilot positions started working.

Winning trades

Not much to write about over here. A combination of mistakes and missed trades meant that I didn't really have too may winning trades. I did have one winner in BIRLACABLE though. It’s a trade that I’m still in but I did sell some shares into strength to ensure that I make some money out of this trade.

BIRLACABLE

Losing trades

I had a lot more losing trades last week as I tried to get to grips with increased volatility in the markets. I kept my losses small though but I still ended up losing some money overall last week.

SHANKARA

Took a small loss on this. Got in an out on the same day when the stock didn’t follow through

This is definitely something that I will keep my eyes on for the next week. It looks to be setting up for a breakout but I was too early when I bought it. Needs a few more days of tightening action.

MAHLIFE

This one wasn't really a great setup. It was a trade that I shouldn't have taken in hindsight. Missing a couple of trades at open put me in a suboptimal headspace which probably had something to do with my taking this trade.

Missed trades

I missed a couple of trades in my watchlist because I couldn't put in orders when these stocks broke out. It doesn’t happen too often but it sure hurts when it does.

TCPLPACK

JINDRILL

Thoughts for the upcoming week

The next week will tell us weather this move is just a temporary bounce or something that sustains over a few more weeks. I’m hoping we get a rally of a couple of weeks at least in the broader markets. My opinion on it is neutral at this point. Its really pointless to make any predictions at this point since things in the world are changing drastically on a daily basis. All we can do as trades is to do less predicting and more reacting.

After doing a quick scan I found a few setups that I would like to track for the next week. There are still not nearly enough good setups right now and I’m still picking up scrap. Some watchlist names — SHARDACORP, GRAVITA, SHANKARA.
